Today, 10th of Muharram is declared as Asyura. According to syiah muslims, this day marks the suffering and torture befell the grandsons of our prophet. They were assissinated mercilessly and cruelly. For Sunnis advocates, they shun the ideas of torturing ourselves till to the extent bleeding their bodies while crying in remembrance of the suffering of Saidina Hussin and Hassan.
The Assyura is annually held at Karbala in Iraq, Tehran in Iran, Lucknow in Pakistan and Tabiyena in Labenon. Those places are generally occupied by Syiah muslims. The most extreme one once took place in Egypt when a man charred his own body and caused his body bleeding to death. Their act was to get the feel of the real suffering of the grandsons of our prophet. The most imporant thing once we know the underlying issue behind the commemoration is the act should be swept behind the carpet for fearing Shiah message get spread. What matters most is the act actually symbolises our sympathy and love towards our prophet and his family. Even in the Qur’an also states that Allah will cleanse the sins or dirts committed by the family of the prophet. Who we are to boost ourselves by not taking any action which represents our love and symphaty for the family of the noblest man in the eye of God. His last messenger sent to bring obout peace and unity the world over. Let us get objective and firm with truth as only truth can differenciate the real winner and the loser.
